First Aid / CPR: Students completing these courses will receive certification through the American Red Cross in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The First Aid course will include basic tips on treatment of minor wounds such as cuts, insect bites, sprains and strains. The CPR class will include training on resuscitation of victims who are not breathing and/or have no heartbeat. Use of the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) will also be discussed. This program is delivered in two-four hour sessions.
Heat Stress: This course will cover the various types of Heat-related syndromes-Heat rash, exhaustion and stroke. The course will also cover methods to prevent Heat Stress and basic medical treatment of employees experiencing Heat-related illnesses. This program is delivered in one- two hour session.
DOT Training: Congress gives The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) the authority to issue regulations for the safe transportation of hazardous materials in intrastate, interstate and foreign commerce. This authority was granted in the Hazardous Materials Transportation Act (HMTA), first adopted in 1974 and amended in November, 1990, as the Hazardous Materials Transportation Uniform Safety Act of 1990 (HMTUSA). Training to safely transport hazardous material, packaging requirements for these materials, and the regulated labels can mean the difference between a safe transport and a dangerous one.
